Check your Mailbox Part 2

Check your Mailbox Part 2

You may recall, dear readers, the initial blog on “check your mailbox,” when Philip was asking for twenty dollars for a field trip. He prayed and after checking the mailbox and finding a twenty dollar bill, he was ecstatic that his prayer had been answered. Well, last week, there was a different twist to the prayer. Let me explain!

Santhosh is planning the next medical mission trip for this month. Philip’s one question for me during our intereview at the LWR banquet in April was, “When can I go to India?” And his asking has been nonstop since then. It was at this time we found that Philip’s passport had expired. Three weeks ago, we started the process to get a new passport. We had also explained to Philip that he would not be able to go to India this time, but in the future we would definitely arrange it. Little did we know that a young faith-walking couple who attended the April LWR banquet donated $200 seed money for “Philip’s India trip.”

Last Sunday a week ago, Philip again was pushing us to let him go to India in the June mission trip. He would only finish his final exams on Tuesday May 28, so Santhosh told Philip that if his passport arrived in the mail Tuesday evening, he could go to India. Philip was so excited and claimed it saying, “I claim my passport to be here by Tuesday.” Well, Santhosh checked the state department website which tracked the passport status and told me that it would arrive on 6/1/13. On Monday the 27th evening, Santhosh and I silently laughed saying “wouldn’t it be funny if his passport did arrive tomorrow? But there’s no way it will.”

After Philip arrived home from school Tuesday evening, he began to talk about how excited he was summer break had started. Santhosh asked him, “What are you going to do this summer?” Philip started to reply, then midway asked if anyone checked to see if his passport was in the mailbox. You’ll never guess what was in the mailbox. 😀

So, look out India, Philip is on his way. “Dad, I’ve got to preach the gospel.” Did you catch the two different prayers with each mailbox event? I believe we are called to pray and claim our right as Philip did. Surely, the Lord’s will is for us to go and preach the gospel. Then His will is for Philip to go. And Philip just claimed what he knew the Father’s will was to begin with. May God help you and me to go in the authority and power that the Lord has given us to conquer the work of the enemy.

Because every child matters!
